Overview

The Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) has begun a corridor study of the Interstate 10 (I-10) from the Deck Park Tunnel to the I-10/I-17 Split interchange including portions of State Route 51 (SR 51) and the I-10/Loop 202/SR 51 system interchange, known as the “Mini Stack.”

The purpose of the study is to define a series of potential improvements to enhance safety, traffic operations, regional travel, and accessibility for this corridor.

Please take our short survey! The study team is proposing improvements to several locations within the study area to improve safety and traffic flow. Please take the survey below by November 8, 2024.


MAG asked the public to complete a survey from October 24 - December 22, 2023, about their experiences and concerns when using the corridor.

Phase 1

Phase 1: Survey Responses

  • 1,959 surveys completed in the Phase One study survey.

  • 97% of respondents support making improvements in the project corridor.

  • 82% of respondents said congestion was high or very high in the study area.

  • Respondents indicated the most important study objective is to improve safety.

  • Erratic driver behavior and the amount of stops and starts were identified as primary issues impacting the use of the corridor.

  • The majority said interchanges and freeway mainline lanes need most improvement.
